Vinyl album packaging design
This album re-design sought to capture the sense of thematic and structural ‘chaos’ which underpins Jóhann Jóhannsson’s album, Drone Mass. Where true randomness is completely without pattern and therefore structure or beauty, chaos retains an element of recognition, composed of patterns which partially repeat but evolve and change each time, never fully repeating themselves while creating motifs which emerge and disappear. This not only mimics the mesmerising, revelatory qualities of Jóhannsson’s work, but also brings to life the otherworldly, haunting soundscapes that emerge and transcend throughout the album.
